It's 2019

We are now training on the usual Tuesday and will be changing to the evenings on 16th April and will be running one session divided into to two levels as we have been in the afternoons.  Start time 7.00pm and we can go on for as long as we have daylight.

The Kennel club Good Citizens Tests will be held here on 28th April.  Golds at 11.00am. Bronzes followed by Silvers starting at 1.00pm.  Paperwork is available here or you can download the test sheets from the KC site.   https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/activities/  (The Good Citizen Scheme.)

Also available will be a help yourself training session on Mondays. 6.30 - 8.00pm.  Come and train and use the field and equipment. Steward and be stewarded for and train and have fun with your dogs. No charge - but contributions into the mowing fund tin would be appreciated.

If anyone has a special training problem or wants a one to one lesson please contact me by phone (01684 292288) or email (dmartinaqua@outlook.com) and I will be pleased to help.  With the slightly later start which is to be more convenient for two or three people do please come along a bit before if you would like to use the hoops or ladders or do any practice you want before we start the classes.

If there is anything different I will post it here before 1.00pm on the relevant day so check it on this page or by phone or email if you want to be sure.

The Good Citizens Tests were held here on 28th April 2019

We  had a good day for the Tests with Seven succeeding in the Bronze, also seven in the Silver, and one in the Gold. The weather steadily improved throughout the afternoon and we ended up sitting in the sun.  The Cheltenham Club is the organising body for the Good Citizen Scheme here but the members of our Tuesday Classes who did well were Rachel Lancaster with her gundog Tonka and Anita Rich with Truffle the Miniature Poodle who both were awarded their Silver Certificates and then to top the lot Heather Williams with Labrador Tanner achieved the Gold. Many congratulations.

The Good Citizens Tests were held here on 21st October 2018

We had the best turn out from Cheltenham Club we have had for some time with altogether 11 achieving Bronze, 7 Silver and 1 Gold.

Trish Mitchell with Shelly, her collie achieved her Bronze from our Tuesday people. Congratulations to Trish.

The Examiners in April  were Paula Smith for the Bronze and Marcia Smith for the Silver.

Bronzes to Sylvia Edmunds with Amber and Lois Eyre with Lulu.

Silvers to Sue Crownshaw with Ned and Lynn Sibley with Peggy.

The Good Citizens Tests were held here on 26th March. 2018. Under the administration of Cheltenham and District Dog Training Club.

The Examiner  being Claire Stewart.

The  tests were held at Twyning. Claire Stewart was our examiner and a lovely sunny afternoon was spent seeing what the dogs could do.   Claire was thorough and fair.  Two visiting handlers achieved their Gold Certificates, and out of the ten entrants for Bronze five were successful.  The five that needed a bit more practice tried very hard and were successful on several of the exercises just not quite ready to be steady enough for stays and with one the idea of a recall was six circuits of the field first before coming to rest with his handler, but an enjoyable sight to see a lurcher doing what a lurcher should do!!!

The Gold Achievers.

Sue Nickless with Riley.  Golden Retriever.

Bob Maycroft with Gem.  Labrador Retriever.

The Bronze Achievers.

Joan Brennan with Jarvis.  Working Cocker Spaniel.

Susan Crownshaw with Ned.  Labrador Cross.

Mary Valentine with Eska. Golden Retriever.

Thank you to Claire for her clear and careful testing and to Jan West our coordinator for the administration.
